WIND Mobile today announced the availability of carrier billing for the App World for its BlackBerry users. It will allow customers to purchase content from RIM’s app store and charge it directly to their WIND Mobile monthly bill or to their credit card.

The move comes just in time for RIM’s BlackBerry 10 launch in two weeks. WIND Mobile has already confirmed its intention to offer the latest BlackBerry devices.

Carrier billing for the RIM App World is already supported by Bell, Rogers, and TELUS.

Research In MotionSome good news from Research In Motion today: The BlackBerry App World has topped the three billion app download mark. It took just over three years to hit this milestone.

Three billion app downloads averages out to over 2.5 million downloads each day. What’s even more important – and impressive – is that the number of daily downloads continues to increase. It took 786 days to reach the one billion mark, 210 days to reach two billion, and only 176 days to reach the three billion number. I should also note that this number does not include apps downloaded from third party BlackBerry app stores, or those pushed internally at companies around the world, or those downloaded directly from the web.

The BlackBerry App World now has over 90,000 applications up for sale from some 28,000 vendors.

Research In MotionJust ahead of today’s Research In Motion’s annual stockholder meeting, there is news for RIM to cheer about. The BlackBerry App World, now available in over 100 countries, has now topped one billion downloads and is seeing an average of 3 million downloads per day.

While this is a worthy accomplishment, RIM still has ways to go if it wants to catch up with Apple with 15 billion app downloads recently announced and Google with 3 billion announced back in April (and over 4.5 billion as of last month).

The BlackBerry App World 3.0 beta is set to start later this month and promises to further improve the experience for both our developers and consumers.
