What is commonly referred to as the BlackBerry 10 L-Series smartphone is in fact represented by three variants. As suggested by earlier rumours, the the London, Lisbon, and Laguna will differ primarily in the radio bands supported and the processor. A new leaked picture reveals that there will be some slight differences as a result under the back cover:

The London looks set to be the global GSM model whereas the Laguna and Lisbon will pack LTE and likely target specific North American carriers.

A very blurry image also appears to have caught a BlackBerry 10 device in white:

The specifications line up quite well with earlier details but there a few odd details. The operating system is referred to as “Superphone/QNX OS” rather than BlackBerry 10. And despite the Qualcomm MSM8960 SoC sporting Bluetooth 4.0, version 2.1 is listed here. It could well be that these slides are quite old or early draft versions. They could also be fakes.

CrackBerry has also learned that the BLackBerry London is likely aimed at the UK market. Two other models, the “Laguna” and the “Lisbon” are in development for the U.S. market. On the hardware front, RIM is apparently testing 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP5 and Qualcomm chipsets, with the latter perhaps geared at CDMA carriers.

The first BlackBerry 10 smartphone is expected later this year, perhaps in September or October.
