A press picture of the HTC One X (formerly known as the Endeavor and Edge) has leaked ahead of its expected announcement at Mobile World Congress. Unlike previous pictures, it shows the three buttons associated with Android 4.0 rather than the four of previous versions.

Rumoured HTC One X

Leaked specifications suggest the HTC One X will be powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor and Android 4.0. It is expected to come with a 4.7-inch HD display and be less than 9 millimeters thick.

HTC is expected to announce the One X along with the HTC Ville and HTC Primo as the HTC One S and HTC One V possibly) at its press event scheduled for February 26th.

The HTC Endeavor was formerly known as the HTC Edge and it now appears to be headed for another name change. PocketNow has learned that it could be launched (likely at Mobile World Congress) as the HTC One X or HTC OneX.

Meanwhile, a second report supports earlier rumours about the HTC Endeavor’s specifications. MoDaCo‘s source confirms that details leaked earlier are correct and adds a few more to complete the picture:

  • Processor: 1.5GHz quad-core Nvidia AP33 Tegra 3
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.0 with HTC Sense 4.0
  • Cellular connectivity: 21Mbps HSDPA
  • Other connectivity: A-GPS, 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
  • Display: 4.7-inch HD (720 x 1280) S-LCD 2
  • Input: Capacitive touchscreen
  • Memory: 1GB RAM
  • Storage: 32GB internal / No microSD card slot
  • Rear-facing camera: 8MP with f/2.2 lens, backlit sensor and 1080p video capture
  • Front-facing camera: 1.3MP capable of 720p video capture
  • Battery: 1,800mAh
  • Dimensions: 8.8 millimeters thick with unibody design
  • Other: Beats Audio, microSIM card, FM radio

MoDaCo adds that the buttons seen on leaked images have been replaced by capacitive ones typical of an Android 4.0 device. The only physical buttons will be the power button and volume rocker. It will also have a dual-colour (green and amber) LED notification rather than a multi-colour one like on the Galaxy Nexus.

The dual-core HTC Ville looks set to be launched as the One S alongside the HTC One X/Endeavor/Edge.

HTCThe oft-rumoured quad-core HTC Edge appears to have been renamed ahead of its expected Mobile World Congress debut. PocketNow has learned from “a trusted source” that HTC has taken the unusual step of changing its codename to Endeavor.

No reason was given for the codename change but PocketNow surmises that it might be “to build up some buzz for its products prior to their introduction, but not so far ahead of time that its ability to operate in secrecy is hindered.”

The HTC Endeavor/Edge could be introduced as the HTC Supreme. It is expected to come with a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, a 4.7-inch 720p HD “optically laminated” display and a 8.8 millimeters thick unibody design. It could be available as soon as the spring.

HTCCiting the Chinese-language Commercial Times, a report by Digitimes suggests that HTC will unveil new flagship smartphones at MWC in February. These are to sport quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processors and LTE-enabled Qualcomm MSM 8906 chipsets. The report does not identify specific devices but they could be the HTC Elite and HTC Edge. Or perhaps the HTC Zeta?

If HTC is able to get these quad-core smartphones to market by April, it may have as much as a two-month lead over its competitors according to JPMorgan Chase analyst Alvin Kwok.

Older rumours have already suggested that HTC will unveil both a quad-core smartphone and tablet (HTC Quattro?) at the event.

HTCBGR has landed some information about HTC’s 2012 smartphone roadmap, including some details about new flagship devices. Overall, HTC plans to release fewer devices next year with a greater emphasis on quality. Its first quarter is expected to be somewhat quieter but still promises some exciting devices.

First up will be a new HTC Titan-like smartphone for AT&T sporting a 4.7-inch display and 4G LTE (possibly the first Windows Phone to support LTE if Nokia does not beat it to the punch). After its possible announcement at CES, it could be available as early as February 5th.

HTC’s flagship device for the first half of 2012 will be the HTC Elite. The HTC Edge and HTC Ville will launch alongside. Little is known about the HTC Elite at this point but it will likely run Android 4.0 and sport Beats Audio. AT&T could offer it as the HTC Congressional (really????) with a launch as early as the first half of April. If the quad-core HTC Edge is not to be HTC’s flagship, it suggests even more impressive specs for the HTC Elite (assuming all these rumours are correct in the first place).

HTCThe Chinese-language Commercial Times is reporting that HTC will unveil a quad-core NVIDIA tablet at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 along with two new smartphones. The report indicates that one of these two will also use a quad-core NVIDIA processor. Both quad-core devices are likely to use the new Tegra 3 processor announced last week.

HTC last week promised to launch a tablet that would hopefully set it apart from its competition in the crowded Android tablet market. While the tablet will be announced at MWC, it will apparently launch closer to the Q3 time frame.

Based on recent leaks, HTC could unveil both the quad-core HTC Edge and the HTC Ville in Barcelona in February.
